My New Years Craftolutions!

Despite not being a fan of New Years Resolutions I decided to follow the crowd and make some...instead I call them my New Years Craftoltions (see what I did there? Clever huh!). So no fad diets for me, this year is all about craft craft craft. So, here they are in all their glory...

1. Finish all the craft projects I've started then abandoned half/quarter way through due to another shiny object catching my eye ( I'm a serious craft magpie).

2. BLOG!

3. Be proud and promote myself more. I've always been shy and never been one to push myself to the front of a crowd. Most of my friends and family don't even know that I blog or sell my crafts so the time has come to start shouting about what I do!

4. Master some crafts. As I said earlier I'm a bit of a magpie, I try something for a bit but then get distracted by something new. This has resulted in me being good at quite a few crafts but mastering none. Top of my list is honing my embroidery skills.

5. Speculate to accumulate. Saving the pennies for a rainy day is all very well but I need to start investing in myself. This means I need to stop feeling bad about buying myself new materials.

Halfway through January and already I'm doing pretty well. I've finished off one project (see my next blog), been promoting myself via Facebook and Twitter, and rather obviously, been blogging!

My Week in Photos

Exactly as the title suggests this is my week in photos, excuse some of the dodgy photography, most shots are captured on my phone whilst out and about in the world!

New York, New York

10 days and counting until my trip to America, still can't really believe I'm going.  At the top of my To Do list is the highly touristy Empire State Building.  We've decided to try and time our visit with the sun going down over New York so we can get a day and night time view....in my mind this is also a more romantic time to go although I fear that hordes of tourists may scupper this idea!

America is rather filling my mind at the moment so it's hardly surprising that I've started trawling the craft sites for New York themed goodies.  The following is the first thing that caught my eye after doing a search for the Empire State Building in Etsy....

Vintage King Kong Empire State Building Fabric Pillow Panel

This fabric pillow panel features the building's most famous visitor, King Kong!  I absolutely love this and am very tempted to buy it and re-enact the film (with a different ending of course).  Love it.

An American Adventure

At the end of this month, just in time for thanksgiving, I shall be embarking on an American adventure! My partner is being sent to the states to work on a project over there for 5 weeks. The upside of the inevitable heartache and whimpering that will ensue in my part as soon as he leaves is that I get to come and visit him halfway through! Its going to be a flying visit and were going to have to seriously cram activities in but um already uber excited!
My lovely other half will be working north of New York so the plan is that I join him on the 27th where we will experience an all American Thanksgiving meal with some family friends....pumpkin pie, hell yes!
After that we'll head to New York and try and see as much as possible in very little time. America has always been a bit of a dream destination for me, I'm a sucker for all things fifties and love American culture.

The countdown begins, 19 days to go!
